The highest price we pay for life is not only that our bodies are rotting and deteriorating but all the mistakes we make along the way. From bad marriages, to a son I should have never had, to business partners like Bill Lustig – the fat corpulent diseased body of a one-time pornographer who has stolen a documentary and 1300 episodes of midnight blue.
In the same way that every deal that Hitler made was Stalin and other governments he broke, so too there are businessmen who rob you blind. An example of this is Bill Lustig who stole many things in his life including my friends movie and 35 years worth of Midnight Blue. Lustig is a common criminal whose brain is rotted from all the sperm he has consumed in back alleys and random glory holes. His ass is so hairy and ugly that female chimps wouldn’t fuck him for free.
All my friends haven’t picked up a phone or helped me after I went bankrupt. Jean-Marc stole my car and hasn’t called me since the money ran out so I am used to being treated poorly.
Now that I think of it, I have been surroundied by this cesspool all my life.

Bill Lustig is no better than your common stereotype of the average comic book store proprietor. Not only is he physically repellant--which automatically relegates him to the status of being a life-long virgin--but that he is ethically challenged, as well. Both of those porn movies which he made during the 1970s were obviously aimed at the mentally disturbed and the mentally challenged. The ending of THE VIOLATION OF CLAUDIA really belongs in a gay movie--and I'm sure that your former business associate Billy Boy has watched more than his fair share of those movies during his lifetime. One of the main reasons why he hasn't released any subsequent MIDNIGHT BLUE DVDs is that MIDNIGHT BLUE doesn't appeal to the gay market exclusively.
If Bill Lustig had one-tenth the intelligence, talent and chutzpah of Mike Vraney--of Something Weird Video fame--and Alpha Blue Archives' David Naylor he would be expending more energy by hunting down those classic X-rated movies from the 1970s instead of releasing those women-in-prison movies that supposed contain "hardcore footage". Based on my personal observations women-in-prison movies are geared for those sexually repressed guys who are either too timid or too ashamed to enter the adults only section of their local video stores. And, the hardcore scenes in those women-in-prison movies tend too be too brief to titillate the average male viewer.
Based on Al Goldstein's comments regarding Bill Lustig, Bill Lustig hardly fits the mold of your average male viewer who watches adult movies.

Why did Lustig only release some of the MB videos on DVD? Does he still have them? Not creative enough to come up with a good marketing plan? Al should demand those videos back!

It seems to me that Bill Lustig fits the mold of your aging anal retentive comic book collector/fanboy who collects stuff for the sake of making sure that no one else owns it. And, the kind of guys who watch the DVD titles that he sells--the women-in-prison movies--tend to be intimidated by women--particularly successful, yuppie types who live in upscale neighborhoods--and the w-i-p movies provide those guys with footage of women being intimidated, dominated and even raped by both creepy-looking men and lesbians.

Al: I heard they're releasing a 5-DVD set of Midnight Blue episodes this summer. Is this true? I will not buy these without your blessings.
I may be wrong but it seems that Bill Lustig's company won't be releasing any additional Midnight Blue DVD volumes this summer. Blue Underground will probably repackage those five DVDs which that company already sells as a money-saving package. Time-Life has taken a similar approach by selling its Malt Shop Memory rock & roll CD set which features the most memorable songs from its recently discontinued Rock & Roll Era CD collection.
I consider myself to be lucky that Alpha Blue Archives now offers PAUL, LISA & CAROLINE for sale. PAUL, LISA & CAROLINE used to be an Essex release which wasn't picked up by VCA when it acquired the Essex titles during the mid 1980s.

There must be a story behind Lustig? He could make money selling what's unreleased or release it and he's not doing anything (that I know of).

One can forgive your fans for condemning Bill Lustig--who obviously deserved to be castrated AND lobotomized. Screw magazine ceased publication last year for a second time, and it looks as if it will remain in magazine heaven for keeps this time. Mr. Lustig probably assumes that only SCREW readers would want to purchase Midnight Blue DVDs.
To tell the truth, I have an insatiable demand when it comes to watching those old Midnight Blue shows. This is particularly true as a consequence of watching TV news these days. No matter who is elected to the White House in 2008 it appears that the next president will most likely end up becoming this century's equivalent of Jimmy Carter.The U.S. economy is in crappy shape. By comparison, Midnight Blue could make one forget about the world's problems since it was a top-notch program that stimulated the mind as well as the eyes.

Bill Lustig on Wikipedia sounds pretty sharp. The links to a 2008 interview do not reflect what's on this Blog site. Al, your column is funny and will probably make Bill a lot of money and increase his social and love life.
His website is thriving and his contact info is working. Any reader can reach him in a second. He welcomes feedback and comes across as very friendly.
If you you Google - advance search, you will find hints that he worked with you Al. I wonder if there was a falling out? Bill is not crazy or stupid and is either listed the remaining Midnight Blue Shows to be released, is in the process or there's a really good reason that they are not all on the market. The full story is yet to hit.
Never the less, every episode will hit the market with Bill Lustig involved or not. It's just the nature of the Internet. Maybe that 12 million dollar deal he speaks about in 3/08 includes the Midnight Blue library. I wonder who Bill bought the collection from? Sex is sex and those shows will sell. I'm not sure how much of the new generation have heard of SCREW and Al?

Al, I would make Mr. Lustig an offer. You could host the reissued volumes of Midnight Blue and promote, etc. Why not reconnect with Bill and do yourself a huge favor. He has money and why would he not treat you right? He has so much to gain. He is so easy to reach and makes live appearances for readers who live in Los Angeles, Calif. Google images will show you that he looks fine and harmless but he's not Al.

Al, DVDs were released in 1996. Why was Midnight Blue not released at that time or on VHS and related before? This seems confusing to me. I wonder if Mr. Lustig will use VOD for Midnight Blue. It would be wise of him to make you an offer about promotion though.

FYI
Nobody stole anything from AL. The Screw offices on 24th street were shut down by the Fire Marshalls due to no npayment of rent. Al never went to clean up all his stuff... all the property in that office (which TRUST me was worth tons of $$$$$- I know I worked there) became property of the building owners, who in turn sold it off. Minus a few pieces that the landlord let us pick through becasue he felt sorry for us. I actually got a humidor worth 95 thousand!
