America in Peril Part I - The New Drug Problem

We are so conditioned by mendacity in politics, advertising and entertainment that the lies of reality television are both familiar and comfortable. It is a world of clones and fabrication. My view of this reality is based on the clones I see each day on Entertainment Tonight and Extra.

Watching these shows is like looking at a car accident where all the bodies and mangled, decapitated and losing blood. The good news is that you are not in the middle of this catastrophe but rather an onlooker. Rather than looking at broken bodies and cadavers you are looking at a world that is as different as what a telescope shows us on the surface of the moon. Because of my older age the only names of actresses I know are Audrey Hepburn, Raquel Welsh and Elizabeth Taylor. The new crop of actresses and reality show stars are crap. Whether it is Paris Hilton or Janice Dickenson or whatever whore is on Survivor, they are celebrities with no legacy or historical context. They are famous for being famous and have no body of work. They are the new set of tits, pretty asses and beauty queens who will last as long as yesterday’s newspaper. Their male counterparts are equally young, untalented and mostly faggots who have a gullet filled with male sperm from all the cock they sucked. Who are they?
In the same way that I skip Page Six and other gossip roundups I find the reality shows fake, distorted and unconnected to the life of real human beings. The reason these shows are so popular is that the lives of real people are lives of quiet desperation where nothing much happens except hunger, defaulted mortgages and failed relationships. These show business extravaganzas are not a mirror we hold up to show reality but rather a funhouse mirror that distorts reality and shows us a life we are not leading. The lives we are leading are similar to the ninth circle of hell filled with hypocrites. These shows take the viewer’s mind off the pain of his shallow and unfulfilling life. They serve the same purpose of mind-altering drugs like heroin, morphine and oxycontin - anything to get us out of the coffin of our trivial and pointless day-to-day existence. All reality TV is merely meant to break us away from the reality of our lives.
